College Culture

Firstly, I want to talk about the places where people would hang out and chat. One of these places is the library, its a place where people would hang out but most of them are more focused on work while in there. At the main hall, there is always people hanging around almost all day although relatively small. The canteen has people hanging out during there lunch break and would stay there chatting until lunch is over. During the evening, the small post around the college would have people hanging out usually with small groups. At night time, the football field near the 7/11 shops are usually packed with Nigerian/ Africans. At the local hostel, the badminton court would be the place to "lepak" during the night in small groups sitting on the ground. Sometimes, the food stalls that are only open at night would be a place to hang out as well. Also, there are at the shops nears 7/11 its mostly packed during the night.

Next, is about the food culture at my college. During the afternoon until evening, there would be a vehicle stall selling Nasi lemak and sometimes porridge. Alot of people go there to buy Nasi Lemak during lunch and would mostly be sold out after lunch. We call the owner of the stall "Pak Cik" (Uncle) and is quite known by local and international alike. The school canteen is open early morning till evening. There are Chinese and Indian themed food, both have variety of selection but in my opinion the taste was just average at the same time quite expensive. The Shops at 7/11 are mostly Indian themed food, they are usually packed for their economic value. At the same time, there are fast food stalls nearby the shops. The burger fast food is usually open during the evening till midnight. The burger they make is actually not bad. Theres also a nasi lemak stall there as well and the food he sells are also good. Sometimes, there would be a fried chicken stall. They appear usually at sunday but sometimes can appear at other random days. The stall sells fried chicken, chicken hot dogs and popcorn chicken. The food is also quite delicious. Each Wednesdays, there would be a pasar malam with multiple choices of food and items. At the local hostel there would be multiple food stalls set up during the night till evening. Some stalls have decent and some have good food.

20th cent task 3(Conceptual)

This week, we are tasked to create ideas on the spot with an A2 sized paper. I had a 2 A3 sized paper taped together with a masking tape. During the idea process, I took some time folding and thinking. While folding, I folded out a shape that looks  like a bag. Then, I though what is currently trending. At, first I though about music since it also can be turned into a stage. But then, there was the presidency in the USA about Donald trump. So, I went with that idea and created a business bag and drew Donald Trump on stage inside the bag. I even titled it : The business man that became president.

Reflection
I learned that Conceptualization is all about ideas and creating an idea  never comes easy. It involved a lot of thinking and time especially with a blank slate.

Finalization

 Final result of my comic

Digitalization

After creating the comic layouton paper, I then took photos of the comic and import it into AI for digitization. First off, I create the borders of the comic and then I try to align the comic as straight as possible so most of it would fit inside the border. Once satisfied, I then proceed to trace the outlines of the comic. After finishing the outline, I start adding colors into the comic following the colors in the physical comic. After all colors have been added to all the pages, I proceed to add dialog for the characters

 New Storyboard sketch

 New storyboard

This is a new story, but still based around the PSA story. Panel 1, the Nigerian is looking for work at a foreign country and is walking alone to an interview. Panel 2 , He reaches his destination and proceeds to enter the company. Panel 3, He notices an employee near the receptionist so he proceeds to ask information about the interview but was rejected and ignored. Panel 4, The Nigerian walks into the building while others gave him a glaring stare. Panel 5, He arrived at the employers office and proceeds to enter for his interview.
Panel 6, His resume was rejected even though he had outstanding grades and working experience. Panel 7 , The Nigerian proceeds to the next interview. Last panel, At the race category of the resume, he wrote : '' we are never born racist''

1st Sketching of the PSA

Using the PSA plan, I visualize and created a sketch storyboard. The 1st panel shows the Nigerian holding the labels. 2nd panel shows that the labels are  used all over the world. 3rd panel tells us that  our bodies are like cars, hence a white or black edition. The 4th panel tells us that at the 15th century, people created the labels and was widely successful in dividing people. 5th panels tells us to discard the labels in order to unif the world. 6th panel tells us that the labels causes conflict and wars. The 7th panel, says that we are all blinded by labels. Finally, the 8th label tells us to throw away the labels so we can view the world as a better place.
