Basic Functions of the camera

You can do photography with even the simplest of cameras, but the principles that I’d like to teach are for people who want to learn to use a DSLR camera, a micro four-thirds camera, or at least a camera that allows the photographer to adjust the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.

EXPOSURE

Exposure is simply meant the brightness or darkness of a photo.  It seems simple enough to take a photo that is correctly exposed (has the proper brightness or darkness), but in reality, it can be quite tricky. Exposure uses Aperture, Shutter speed, and ISO in conjunction to create a properly exposed image.

WHAT IS APERTURE?

Simply put, Aperture is the hole within your lens, through which light travels into the camera body.

The image above on the left is shot at an aperture of 1.4 making it a wide aperture while the image on the right is taken at 5.6 making it a more narrow aperture, therefore more of the shot is in focus.

WHAT IS ISO?

In very basic terms, ISO is the level of sensitivity of your camera to available light. The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera.

 LOW ISO

 HIGH ISO

WHAT IS SHUTTER SPEED?

Shutter speed, also known as “exposure time”, stands for the length of time a camera shutter is open to expose light into the camera sensor. If the shutter speed is fast, it can help to freeze action completely, as seen in the below photos. If the shutter speed is slow, it can create an effect called “motion blur”, where moving objects appear blurred along the direction of the motion which you can also see in the below photo.

High shuttler speed

Low shuttler speed

WHAT IS WHITE BALANCE?

As the name suggests, white balance balances the color temperature in your image. How does it do this? It adds the opposite color to the image in an attempt to bring the color temperature back to neutral. Instead of whites appearing red or yellow, they should appear white after correctly white balancing an image.

Designing the logo

I started off designing in free form as shown above. However the looks are uneven and less interesting. So, I decided to design the logo using shapes.

The picture above shows my uses of shapes to create logos. Alot of them are trial and error. They are usually created with an original look in mind.

I tried for a background door design, it dint look entirely the best but it was worth trying.

Here are some of the design that would look without the processes shown.

Toilet signs proposal

Introduction
Toilet signs are widely used globally to differentiate the gender of men and women in restrooms. However, the default toilet signs had been used for over 70 years and have yet to show any changes in design.

Problem statement

The original and global toilet sign is created by a design studio founded by Marcus Brumwell and Misha Black in 1943. Since then, the signs have not undergone any changes for more than 70 years. In the current era, the signs are less represented to the current fashion. It is rare to find women wearing a skirt and men are moving away from the gentleman era.

Solution
I propose to change the toilet signs into a more modern contemporary design. There are already designs by designers to try to update the current toilet designs but has not been proven to be a global success. it will be very difficult to move from the current global toilet sign since it was integrated solidly into our minds to know what the signs represent and changes may create confusion.
